OpenLDAP 1.2.11 or later, or upgrade to a newer Conectiva Linux version that includes the fixed logrotate script

  1. Locate the OpenLDAP logrotate script in /etc/logrotate.d/ldap or similar directory

  3. Modify the script to either remove the improper signal to klogd, or replace it with the correct signal (such as SIGUSR1 for log rotation)
  4. Ensure the script only sends signals to the processes that should be signaled (e.g., syslogd) and not to klogd
  5. Test the modified script with: logrotate -d /etc/logrotate.conf to verify the changes
  6. Apply the script and monitor system logs to confirm klogd remains running
