  1. Identify the current version of your Ushahidi installation by checking the version file or admin interface
  2. Review the vendor patch at https://github.com/ushahidi/Ushahidi_Web/commit/e8c7ecd42818c331db8945d20f8b1865bc6d157e to understand the entropy improvement for forgot-password tokens
  3. Create a complete backup of the Ushahidi database and all configuration files
  4. Upgrade the Ushahidi installation to version 2.6.1 or later, which contains the fixed password reset token generation with proper entropy
  5. After upgrade, verify that the forgot-password token generation now uses cryptographically secure random values
  6. Consider invalidating any existing password reset tokens that may have been generated by the vulnerable version
  7. Test the forgot-password flow to confirm it works correctly with the new secure token generation
