Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
There are two denial of service vulnerabilities on some Huawei smartphones. An attacker may send specially crafted TD-SCDMA messages from a rogue base station to the affected devices. Due to insufficient input validation of two values when parsing the messages, successful exploit may cause device abnormal. This is 1 out of 2 vulnerabilities. Different than CVE-2020-5303. Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

This vulnerability exists in the TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) message parsing functionality of affected Huawei smartphones. An attacker operating a rogue base station can send specially crafted TD-SCDMA messages containing malicious values. Due to insufficient input validation of two specific values during message parsing, the malformed messages cause the device to become abnormal, resulting in denial of service.

MitigationApply the vendor-supplied firmware updates to the specific versions listed in the Huawei security advisory. Users cannot mitigate this vulnerability through configuration changes as the attack originates from a malicious base station.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify your Huawei smartphone model
Go to Settings > About Phone > Model Number (or look at the physical device backplate) and note the exact model name (e.g., Alp-Al00b, Alp-L09, Bla-L29c, Berkeley-Al20, Charlotte-L09c)
Affected if The model matches one of the affected models: Alp, Bla, Berkeley, or Charlotte series
  2. Check your current firmware build number
Go to Settings > About Phone > Build Number, or dial *#*#2846579#*#* to access the engineering menu, then navigate to Version Information > SW Version to see the full firmware version string
Affected if You cannot determine the version from the About Phone screen alone
  3. Extract the full firmware version string
In Settings > About Phone, note the complete version which typically includes a build number like c00e333r2p1t8, c432e4r1p9t8, c636e5r1p13t8, etc.
Affected if The version string is visible and contains the build identifier in parentheses
  4. Compare your firmware version against affected ranges for your specific model
    Match your model and build number to the affected versions list: Alp Al00b: < 9.1.0.333(c00e333r2p1t8); Alp L09: < 9.1.0.300(c432e4r1p9t8); Alp L29: < 9.1.0.315(c636e5r1p13t8); Bla L29c: < 9.1.0.321(c636e4r1p14t8) or < 9.1.0.330(c432e6r1p12t8) or < 9.1.0.302(c635e4r1p13t8); Berkeley Al20: < 9.1.0.333(c00e333r2p1t8); Berkeley L09: < 9.1.0.350(c10e3r1p14t8) or < 9.1.0.351(c432e5r1p13t8) or < 9.1.0.350(c636e4r1p13t8); Charlotte L09c: < 9.1.0.311(c185e4r1p11t8) or < 9.1.0.345(c432e8r1p11t8); Charlotte L29c: < 9.1.0.325(c185e4r1p11t8) or < 9.1.0.335(c636e3r1p13t8) or < 9.1.0.345(c432e8r1p11t8) or <
Affected if Your firmware version is lower than the specified version for any of the build identifiers listed for your model
  5. Confirm TD-SCDMA network capability (context only)
This check is informational: the vulnerability affects TD-SCDMA parsing in the baseband modem; if your device supports TD-SCDMA networks (primarily China Mobile networks), it contains the affected component - this is not a configurable setting
Affected if This is not a detection criterion as the vulnerability exists in the baseband processor regardless of network availability

You are affected if you own a Huawei smartphone from the Alp, Bla, Berkeley, or Charlotte series and your current firmware build number is lower than the version thresholds listed for your specific model and build identifier.
