Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Small Business RV160, RV160W, RV260, RV260P, and RV260W VPN Routers could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code as the root user on an affected device. These vulnerabilities exist because HTTP requests are not properly validated. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a crafted HTTP request to the web-based management interface of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code on the device.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco RV160/RV260 series VPN routers allow unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code as root user via crafted HTTP requests that are not properly validated.

MitigationApply Cisco firmware updates when available; if no patch exists, restrict web management interface access to trusted management networks or disable it entirely if not required.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Affected products & versions What the vendor confirmedThe version ranges the vendor confirmed as vulnerable. If your version sits inside a range here, treat yourself as exposed until you have upgraded.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify the router model
Check the physical device label or access the admin interface to confirm the exact model number (RV160, RV160w, RV260, RV260p, or RV260w)
Affected if The model is any of RV160, RV160w, RV260, RV260p, or RV260w series routers
  2. Check the firmware version
Log into the router web management interface and navigate to Administration > Firmware Upgrade or check the status/dashboard page for the current firmware version. Alternatively, use the CLI command 'show version' if SSH access is available.
Affected if The installed firmware version is earlier than 1.0.01.02 (any version below this threshold)
  3. Verify the web management interface is accessible
Attempt to access the device's web interface via HTTP/HTTPS from a browser at the device's LAN or WAN IP address. Confirm the management login page loads.
Affected if The web-based management interface is reachable on any network interface (LAN or WAN)
  4. Check if web management is enabled on WAN
In the router web interface, go to Administration > Management > HTTP/HTTPS settings and verify whether WAN access is permitted for the management interface.
Affected if Web-based management is enabled and accessible from the WAN interface

You are affected if you own an RV160 or RV260 series router running firmware below version 1.0.01.02 and the web management interface is accessible (especially from WAN).

Apply Cisco firmware updates when available; if no patch exists, restrict web management interface access to trusted management networks or disable it entirely if not required.

Recommended fix Moderate confidence

Firmware version 1.0.01.02 or later for RV160, RV160W, RV260, RV260P, and RV260W VPN Routers

  1. Download the latest firmware version 1.0.01.02 or later for your specific router model from Cisco's official support site
  2. Access the router's web-based management interface using an administrative account
  3. Navigate to the Administration section and locate the Firmware Upgrade or Software Update option
  4. Upload the downloaded firmware file and apply the update
  5. Allow the device to reboot and complete the installation process
