Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Possible out of bound write due to lack of boundary check for the maximum size of buffer when sending a DCI packet to remote process in Snapdragon Auto, Snapdragon Compute, Snapdragon Consumer IOT, Snapdragon Industrial IOT, Snapdragon Mobile, Snapdragon Voice & Music, Snapdragon Wearables, Snapdragon Wired Infrastructure and Networking

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

How this class of weakness works · CWE-120

A fixed-size buffer is filled without checking the length of the incoming data, so it overflows into neighbouring memory. This is the classic overflow attackers use to overwrite return addresses and hijack execution. The fix is strict length checks and safe, bounded string and memory functions.

General guidance for the classic buffer overflow class — the official description and references above are authoritative for this specific CVE. Want a bespoke review and a reviewed fix? Ask our team →

Recommended fix Moderate confidence

Apply vendor firmware updates from the February 2022 Qualcomm security bulletin (contact OEM for specific version)

  1. Obtain the February 2022 Qualcomm security bulletin from https://www.qualcomm.com/company/product-security/bulletins/february-2022-bulletin
  2. Identify the specific affected Snapdragon product(s) in your deployment from the list: Apq8096au, Ar8031, Ar8035, Ar9380, Csr8811, Csra6620, Csra6640, or Ipq4018 firmware
  3. Contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or device vendor to obtain the patched firmware version that addresses CVE-2021-30324
  4. Apply the vendor-provided firmware update following the OEM's standard firmware upgrade procedure
  5. Verify the patch has been applied successfully by checking the firmware version or contacting the vendor
Caveat Firmware updates may require device downtime and should be tested in a staging environment before production deployment
