Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in JT2Go (All versions < V13.2), Solid Edge SE2021 (All Versions < SE2021MP5), Teamcenter Visualization (All versions < V13.2). The plmxmlAdapterSE70.dll library in affected applications lacks proper validation of user-supplied data when parsing PAR files. This could result in an out of bounds write past the fixed-length heap-based buffer. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-13424)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

The plmxmlAdapterSE70.dll library in JT2Go, Solid Edge SE2021, and Teamcenter Visualization lacks proper validation of user-supplied data when parsing PAR files, leading to an out-of-bounds write past a fixed-length heap-based buffer. An attacker can exploit this by enticing a user to open a malicious PAR file, potentially achieving arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate all affected products to the specified minimum versions (JT2Go V13.2+, Solid Edge SE2021MP5+, Teamcenter Visualization V13.2+) to obtain the patched library. Until patched, refrain from opening PAR files from untrusted sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify installed Siemens product
Check installed programs for JT2Go, Solid Edge SE2021, or Teamcenter Visualization. Look in Add/Remove Programs (Windows) or the application's About/Help menu for version information.
Affected if Any of these three products is installed
  2. Determine product version
For JT2Go: Check Help > About or the application's version in Add/Remove Programs. For Solid Edge: Check Help > About Solid Edge. For Teamcenter: Check Help > About Teamcenter Visualization.
Affected if Version is below 13.2.0 for JT2Go or Teamcenter Visualization, or any version of Solid Edge SE2021 (including se2021)
  3. Locate the vulnerable DLL
    Search for plmxmlAdapterSE70.dll in the product installation directory. Common paths: C:\Program Files\Siemens\JT2Go\ or C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge SE2021\ or C:\Program Files\Siemens\Teamcenter Visualization\
Affected if The DLL exists in the installation directory
  4. Check PAR file parsing capability
Verify whether the application has the ability to import or open PAR files. In Solid Edge, check File > Open with .PAR extension. In JT2Go, attempt to open or import a PAR file.
Affected if PAR file parsing feature is available and used

User is affected if they have JT2Go < V13.2.0, any Solid Edge SE2021 version, or Teamcenter Visualization < V13.2.0 installed AND use the PAR file parsing feature.
