Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A use-after-free vulnerability exists when reading a DWF/DWFX file using Open Design Alliance Drawings SDK before 2022.11. The specific issue exists with parsing DWF/DWFX files. Crafted data in a DWF/DWFX file and lack of proper validation of input data can trigger a write operation past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

A use-after-free vulnerability exists in Open Design Alliance Drawings SDK versions prior to 2022.11 when parsing DWF/DWFX files. The vulnerability stems from improper validation of input data during file parsing, which allows a crafted DWF/DWFX file to trigger a write operation beyond the allocated buffer boundaries, potentially enabling arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate Open Design Alliance Drawings SDK to version 2022.11 or later to patch the vulnerability. Until the update is applied, implement additional input validation and file parsing safeguards for DWF/DWFX files processed by the application.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify ODA Drawings SDK presence
Locate the ODA Drawings SDK library files in your application or system. Common library names include OdDbDwg.dll, OdDwf6.dll, or similar files. Check your application's dependencies, linked libraries, or installer documentation to confirm the SDK is present.
Affected if The ODA Drawings SDK library files are found in the application or system
  2. Determine the installed SDK version
Check the version information of the ODA library files. Right-click the DLL file, select Properties, and view the Version tab. Alternatively, check SDK release notes, version headers, or the file version string embedded in the library.
Affected if The version is prior to 2022.11 or cannot be verified as 2022.11 or later
  3. Confirm DWF/DWFX file processing capability
Review application logs, code, or configuration to determine if the application can open, import, render, or otherwise process DWF or DWFX files. Check if DWF/DWFX is listed as a supported format in the application's documentation or file dialogs.
Affected if The application has the capability to process DWF or DWFX files

You are affected if your environment contains ODA Drawings SDK version prior to 2022.11 AND the application processes DWF/DWFX files.
