CVE-2022-43613
Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.
NVD · uneditedThis vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Corel CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 23.5.0.506. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of CGM files. When parsing CGM files, the process does not properly validate the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-16356.
Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.
dbcve analysis · high confidenceStack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 23.5.0.506 when parsing CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) files. The CGM file parser fails to validate the length of user-supplied data before copying it to a stack-based buffer, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted CGM file.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.
dbcve checksWork through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.
-
Check if CorelDRAW is installedLook for CorelDRAW in the installed programs list (Windows: Control Panel > Programs and Features, or PowerShell: Get-ItemProperty HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\* | Select-Object DisplayName, DisplayVersion)Affected if CorelDRAW Graphics Suite is present on the system
-
Determine the installed CorelDRAW versionRun CorelDRAW and check Help > About CorelDRAW, or check the Windows registry at HKLM\Software\Corel\Applications (the version key varies by installation)Affected if The installed version is 23.5.0.506 or any version prior to 24.2.1
-
Identify if CGM file support is enabledCheck CorelDRAW file import settings (File > Import, or Tools > Options > File Import) to see if CGM/CGM Import is available as an import filterAffected if CGM import filter is present and enabled in CorelDRAW
-
Review recent file open activity for CGM filesCheck Windows recent files, Windows Event Viewer for application crash events related to CGM files, or review local browser/download folders for .cgm files opened recentlyAffected if The user has opened a CGM file in CorelDRAW, particularly from an untrusted or unknown source
A user is affected if CorelDRAW Graphics Suite version is below 24.2.1 and they have opened or attempt to open a CGM file with the built-in CGM import feature.

The advisory tells you what broke. It rarely tells you what actually worked. If you’ve dealt with this one, that detail is what the next engineer is searching for.
- The version that genuinely resolved it — not the one the vendor claimed
- A config change or rule that shut the vector down
- A gotcha in the upgrade path that cost you an afternoon
