Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Solid Edge SE2022 (All versions < V222.0MP12), Solid Edge SE2023 (All versions < V223.0Update2). The affected applications contain an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated structure while parsing specially crafted PAR files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in Solid Edge's PAR file parser. When parsing specially crafted PAR files, the parser reads beyond the end of an allocated memory structure, potentially allowing an attacker to achieve code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate Solid Edge SE2022 to version V222.0MP12 or later, and SE2023 to version V223.0Update2 or later, to remediate this vulnerability.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Verify Solid Edge SE2023 is installed
Check for Solid Edge installation in the program files directory (typically C:\Program Files\Solid Edge\) or look for Solid Edge in Windows Add/Remove Programs
Affected if Solid Edge SE2023 is present on the system
  2. Identify the installed Solid Edge version
Open Solid Edge, then navigate to Help > About Solid Edge, or locate the version in the program directory properties. Record the full version number displayed (e.g., 2210.0001.004)
Affected if Version cannot be determined or is blank
  3. Compare version against affected range
Compare the installed version number to the affected range: Solid Edge SE2023 versions earlier than 2210.0002.004 are vulnerable. The first three digits (2210) indicate the 2023 release; the fourth segment (.0002) is the update version.
Affected if Installed version is 2210.0002.004 or any earlier version (e.g., 2210.0001.004, 2210.0000.001)
  4. Confirm PAR file processing capability
Solid Edge inherently processes PAR (parameter) files as part of its normal CAD operations. This is a core file format for part definitions in Solid Edge.
Affected if Solid Edge can open or parse PAR files (which is the default functionality)

If Solid Edge SE2023 is installed with a version number lower than 2210.0002.004, the environment is vulnerable to this out-of-bounds read when processing PAR files.

Interim mitigation

Update Solid Edge SE2022 to version V222.0MP12 or later, and SE2023 to version V223.0Update2 or later, to remediate this vulnerability.

Recommended fix High confidence

Solid Edge SE2022: V222.0MP12 or later; Solid Edge SE2023: V223.0Update2 (2210.0002.004) or later

  1. Identify the currently installed Solid Edge version (SE2022 or SE2023)
  2. For Solid Edge SE2022: Upgrade to version V222.0MP12 or later
  3. For Solid Edge SE2023: Upgrade to version V223.0Update2 (also identified as 2210.0002.004) or later
  4. Verify the upgrade was successful by checking the installed version number
  5. Do not open untrusted or specially crafted PAR files until the upgrade is applied
