CVE-2023-2588
Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.
NVD · uneditedTeltonika’s Remote Management System versions prior to 4.10.0 have a feature allowing users to access managed devices’ local secure shell (SSH)/web management services over the cloud proxy. A user can request a web proxy and obtain a URL in the Remote Management System cloud subdomain. This URL could be shared with others without Remote Management System authentication . An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to create a malicious webpage that uses a trusted and certified domain. An attacker could initiate a reverse shell when a victim connects to the malicious webpage, achieving remote code execution on the victim device.
Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.
dbcve analysis · high confidenceTeltonika RMS versions before 4.10.0 contain an authentication bypass in the web proxy feature. Users can request and obtain shareable URLs in the RMS cloud subdomain without authentication requirements. Attackers abuse this trusted domain to host malicious webpages that trigger reverse shells on victim devices, achieving remote code execution.

Affected products & versions What the vendor confirmedThe version ranges the vendor confirmed as vulnerable. If your version sits inside a range here, treat yourself as exposed until you have upgraded.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.
dbcve checksWork through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.
-
Identify Teltonika RMS versionLog into the Teltonika RMS admin interface and navigate to Settings > System > About, or check the login banner/version endpoint for the installed RMS version numberAffected if The installed version is less than 4.10.0
-
Verify web proxy feature statusIn the RMS interface, locate the web proxy or URL sharing feature (usually under Network or Proxy settings). Check if shareable URLs can be generated without authentication promptsAffected if Shareable URLs can be generated without requiring authentication credentials
-
Review active shareable URLsIn the RMS dashboard, examine the list of active shareable URLs or web proxy links. Look for URLs with the RMS cloud subdomain that you did not intentionally createAffected if There are shareable URLs present that were not created by authorized administrators
-
Check logs for unauthorized accessReview RMS access logs for requests to cloud subdomain URLs from unexpected IP addresses, especially those with suspicious request patterns or payload indicatorsAffected if Logs show access to RMS cloud URLs from unknown sources or suspicious patterns indicative of abuse
A system is affected if it runs Teltonika RMS version below 4.10.0 AND has the web proxy URL sharing feature accessible without authentication.

Remediation Closing itWhat it takes to close this. Where a vendor fix exists we point at it; where none exists we say so plainly, and can build one. Effort estimates are scoped from the advisory, not from your codebase.

The advisory tells you what broke. It rarely tells you what actually worked. If you’ve dealt with this one, that detail is what the next engineer is searching for.
- The version that genuinely resolved it — not the one the vendor claimed
- A config change or rule that shut the vector down
- A gotcha in the upgrade path that cost you an afternoon
