Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Frappe is a full-stack web application framework that uses Python and MariaDB on the server side and an integrated client side library. A malicious Frappe user with desk access could create documents containing HTML payloads allowing HTML Injection. This vulnerability has been patched in version 14.49.0.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

How this class of weakness works · CWE-79

Untrusted input is placed into a web page without being neutralised, so an attacker's markup or script executes in another user's browser. That can hijack sessions, capture keystrokes, or silently perform actions as the victim. Fixing it properly means context-aware output encoding everywhere data meets HTML, backed by a content-security policy as a second line of defence.

Recommended fix High confidence

Frappe version 14.49.0 or later

  1. Verify current Frappe version by checking the installed bench or requirements.txt
  2. Backup the current Frappe bench and all sites databases
  3. Stop the Frappe bench services (bench stop or equivalent)
  4. Run bench update to fetch the latest releases: bench update --reset
  5. Alternatively, for a specific version upgrade: bench switch-to-branch version-14-49 frappe bench version-14-49
  6. After upgrade, verify the version is 14.49.0 or later using: bench version
  7. Restart the Frappe services: bench start or bench scheduler resume
  8. Test that HTML Injection is no longer possible in document creation forms
Caveat Minor patch release - minimal expected breaking changes, but review release notes before production deployment
