Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A local file include could be remotely triggered in Gradio due to a vulnerable user-supplied JSON value in an API request.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

How this class of weakness works · CWE-22

A file path is built from user input without being confined, so sequences like “../” let an attacker step outside the intended directory. That can expose configuration, credentials, or source code, and in the worst case lets an attacker write files where they shouldn't. A durable fix resolves and canonicalises the path, then rejects anything that escapes a known-safe base directory.

Latest stable Gradio release (check release notes for version containing commit d76bcaaaf0734aaf49a680f94ea9d4d22a602e70)

  1. Check the Gradio release notes or the security advisory for the version containing the fix
  2. Identify the current Gradio version in your environment using `pip show gradio` or checking your requirements file
  3. Upgrade to a version that includes the security fix. Check the Gradio GitHub releases page or the security advisory for the specific version number containing commit d76bcaaaf0734aaf49a680f94ea9d4d22a602e70
  4. After upgrading, verify the fix is applied by testing that path traversal attempts through the API are blocked
  5. Consider implementing additional input validation on API endpoints as a defense-in-depth measure
