Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Photoshop Desktop versions 24.7.3, 25.7 and earlier are affected by an out-of-bounds read vulnerability when parsing a crafted file, which could result in a read past the end of an allocated memory structure. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Adobe Photoshop Desktop contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability when parsing specially crafted files. The vulnerability allows reading past the end of allocated memory structures, which can potentially be leveraged for arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.

MitigationUpdate Photoshop to version 25.7.1 or later (or 24.7.4 for the 24.x branch). Avoid opening untrusted or unsolicited Photoshop files from unknown sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify installed Photoshop version on Windows
Open Photoshop and go to Help > About Photoshop, or right-click the Photoshop executable in Program Files and select Properties > Details to view the Product Version
Affected if The version shown is earlier than 24.7.4, or is 25.0 through 25.8.x
  2. Identify installed Photoshop version on macOS
Open Photoshop and go to Photoshop menu > About Photoshop, or navigate to /Applications/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop.app, right-click and select Get Info to view the version
Affected if The version shown is earlier than 24.7.4, or is 25.0 through 25.8.x
  3. Check version via command line (Windows)
Run 'reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Photoshop\InstallPath"' to find the install directory, then check the version string in the executable or use 'wmic product where "name like '%Photoshop%'" get version'
Affected if The returned version falls outside the fixed releases (not 24.7.4 or higher in the 24.x line, not 25.9 or higher in the 25.x line)
  4. Verify file parsing is in use
The vulnerability triggers when opening specially crafted .psd, .psb, or other Photoshop native files. Check if the application is used to open files from external or untrusted sources
Affected if Users routinely open .psd, .psb, or other Photoshop files from unknown or untrusted sources, combined with a vulnerable version

A user is affected if their installed Photoshop version is 24.x before 24.7.4, or 25.x before 25.9, AND they open untrusted Photoshop files.
