Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Vulnerability in the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition product of Oracle Analytics (component: BI Platform Security). The supported version that is affected is 12.2.1.4.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.4 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Verify OBIEE version
Check the installed Oracle Business Intelligence version through Oracle Enterprise Manager, Fusion Middleware Control, or by examining the installation directory metadata. Common paths include $ORACLE_HOME/bi/modules/oracle.bi.server/ and $ORACLE_HOME/bi/bifoundation/server/config/
Affected if The installed version is exactly 12.2.1.4.0
  2. Confirm BI Platform Security component is in use
Check if the BI Platform Security component is enabled by examining the Oracle BI Server configuration files (NQSConfig.ini and instanceconfig.xml) for security-related settings, or through the Fusion Middleware Administration console
Affected if The BI Platform Security component is active and the system processes BI-related requests
  3. Verify OBIEE HTTP interfaces are network-accessible
Test network connectivity to the OBIEE presentation services HTTP port (typically 9500/9502) and analytics endpoint (typically 9704) using curl, telnet, or a browser from an external host
Affected if OBIEE HTTP endpoints are reachable from untrusted networks
  4. Check for existing unauthorized data access
Review Oracle BI audit logs and access logs for unusual read, insert, update, or delete operations, particularly from low-privileged accounts or unexpected IP addresses
Affected if Audit logs show data access patterns inconsistent with legitimate user behavior

The environment is affected if OBIEE version is exactly 12.2.1.4.0, the BI Platform Security component is active, and HTTP interfaces are network-accessible to low-privileged attackers.
