Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Acrobat Reader versions 24.005.20307, 24.001.30213, 24.001.30193, 20.005.30730, 20.005.30710 and earlier are affected by an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of sensitive memory. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass mitigations such as ASLR. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Adobe Acrobat Reader contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability allowing disclosure of sensitive memory contents beyond allocated buffers. This memory disclosure can leak addresses or other sensitive data that enables an attacker to bypass ASLR mitigation. Exploitation requires a victim to open a specially crafted malicious PDF file.

MitigationApply vendor security updates from Adobe for Acrobat Reader to the latest patched versions. Ensure automatic updates are enabled or manually deploy updates to all affected installations.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

  3. Confirm product variant and build
Verify whether the installation is Adobe Acrobat Reader (Standard/Dc) or Adobe Acrobat (Pro) by checking the product name in Help > About or in Programs and Features.
Affected if Running an unpatched variant with version below the threshold for that specific product line

User is affected if Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Dc is installed with a version below 20.005.30748, or version 24.0 through 24.001.30224 (for Acrobat) or below 24.005.20320 (for Dc variants).
