Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Solid Edge SE2025 (All versions < V225.0 Update 5). The affected applications contain an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated structure while parsing specially crafted PAR files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

This is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Solid Edge SE2025's PAR file parser. When parsing specially crafted PAR files, the application reads past the end of an allocated memory structure, leading to memory corruption that can be leveraged for arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate to Solid Edge V225.0 Update 5 or later to obtain the vendor patch. Until patched, avoid opening PAR files from untrusted sources and consider deploying application sandboxing or endpoint protection capable of detecting malformed file inputs.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify if Solid Edge is installed
Check for Solid Edge installation in typical locations: C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge[VERSION] or look for 'Solid Edge' in Add/Remove Programs. Also check for se2025.exe or similar executables.
Affected if Solid Edge SE2025 is present on the system
  2. Determine the installed Solid Edge version
Open Solid Edge and navigate to Help > About Solid Edge, or right-click se2025.exe in the installation folder and view Properties > Details for version information.
Affected if The installed version is se2025 or any version <= se2025 (the affected range)
  3. Verify PAR file handling capability exists
Confirm the PAR file parser component exists by searching for .par file association or trying to open a PAR file in the installed Solid Edge instance.
Affected if PAR files can be opened or imported in the installed Solid Edge version
  4. Assess PAR file input exposure
Check if the system processes PAR files from external or untrusted sources by reviewing file type associations, recent PAR file access, or user workflows involving PAR files.
Affected if Users routinely open PAR files from untrusted or unknown sources in this Solid Edge installation

The system is affected if Solid Edge SE2025 or any version <= se2025 is installed and users can open or process PAR files with the application's parser.

Mitigation

Update to Solid Edge V225.0 Update 5 or later to obtain the vendor patch. Until patched, avoid opening PAR files from untrusted sources and consider deploying application sandboxing or endpoint protection capable of detecting malformed file inputs.

Recommended fix High confidence

V225.0 Update 5

  1. 1. Identify current Solid Edge SE2025 version by opening the application and checking Help > About Solid Edge
  2. 2. Navigate to Siemens' official support portal or cert-portal.siemens.com to download V225.0 Update 5
  3. 3. Close all Solid Edge instances and any related processes before updating
  4. 4. Run the installer for V225.0 Update 5 with administrator privileges
  5. 5. Follow the on-screen installation prompts to complete the update
