Apply Fortinet's patches for the affected versions (7.0.x, 7.2.x, 7.4.x, 7.6.0-7.6.4). In the interim, strictly limit administrative CLI access and monitor for suspicious path-based deletion commands.
Upgrade to FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer 7.4.8 or later, or 7.6.5 or later (depending on your current branch). For 7.0.x and 7.2.x branches, upgrade to 7.4.8 or later.
- 1. Log into FortiManager or FortiAnalyzer as an administrator with sufficient privileges
- 2. Navigate to System > Settings or use the CLI to backup the current configuration
- 3. Download the appropriate firmware image from the Fortinet Support Portal (https://support.fortinet.com/) for your product version
- 4. For on-premise devices: Go to System > Firmware > Upload Firmware and select the downloaded image
- 5. For cloud instances: Use the cloud provider's console or Fortinet cloud management to initiate the firmware upgrade
- 6. Wait for the upgrade process to complete and the device to reboot
