Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Description Cloudflare was recently notified by external researchers of vulnerabilities in this archived repository, including a remote code execution issue in `src/index.ts` reachable from certain GitHub Actions workflow configurations. Successful exploitation may expose workflow secrets such as CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN and GITHUB_TOKEN to an attacker. Because this repository has been deprecated since 2024, Cloudflare will not be issuing patches. To remediate this issue, we recommend migrating to `cloudflare/wrangler-action` immediately. Consumers who have already migrated are not affected. Sunset Date The cloudflare/pages-action repository will be removed on 2026-09-18. Consumers must complete migration before 18th September to avoid CI disruption. Affected Versions All published versions of cloudflare/pages-action, including consumers pinned to the v1 moving tag. Patched Versions None. This repository will not receive further updates, including security patches. Resolution / Migration Path Migrate all workflows using cloudflare/pages-action to `cloudflare/wrangler-action` before 2026-09-18. Refer to the wrangler-action README for the equivalent step configuration and migration guidance. How this class of weakness works · CWE-78

User input reaches a shell or system command without being fully separated from the command itself, so an attacker can append their own instructions. Because these run with the application's privileges, it often means full control of the host. The lasting fix is to avoid the shell entirely — call APIs directly and pass arguments as data, never as concatenated strings.

Recommended fix High confidence

Migrate to cloudflare/wrangler-action (a different product, not a version upgrade)

  1. Review current GitHub Actions workflows that use cloudflare/pages-action
  2. Identify the equivalent configuration needed for cloudflare/wrangler-action by consulting the wrangler-action README
  3. Update each workflow file to replace 'cloudflare/pages-action' with 'cloudflare/wrangler-action'
  4. Configure the equivalent step settings (such as apiToken, accountId, and other required parameters) as documented in wrangler-action
  5. Test the updated workflows to ensure proper functionality
  6. Remove any references to the deprecated cloudflare/pages-action before 2026-09-18
Caveat wrangler-action has different configuration parameters and behavior than pages-action; review the README for migration details

No vendor fix exists The vendor has not published a patch for this.

There is no version to upgrade to and no patch to apply. Every affected install stays exposed until the vendor ships a fix — or somebody else builds one.
