Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Hulumi is an open-source toolkit that ships secure-by-default cloud and platform infrastructure components for Pulumi. Prior to version 1.4.0, consumers using AccountFoundation could ship an AWS account whose CloudTrail / Config audit logs were deletable by any S3-delete-capable principal — while believing the startup-hardened tier guaranteed tamper-resistance. Sandbox-tier deployments had no audit immutability at all (defects 1 and 3 compounded). This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Recommended fix Moderate confidence

Upgrade to Hulumi version 1.4.0 or later

  1. 1. Identify the current version of Hulumi in use by checking your project's dependency file (e.g., package.json, requirements.txt, go.mod, or Pulumi.yaml)
  2. 2. If running a version prior to 1.4.0, upgrade to version 1.4.0 or later using your package manager (e.g., npm install,hulumi@latest, pip install hulumi==1.4.0, or go get github.com/hulumi/[email protected])
  3. 3. After upgrading, redeploy your Pulumi infrastructure to apply the patched AccountFoundation component
  4. 4. Verify that CloudTrail and Config audit log S3 buckets now have appropriate access controls that prevent deletion by arbitrary S3-delete-capable principals
  5. 5. Review the release notes for version 1.4.0 to confirm all security fixes have been applied
Caveat Review release notes for 1.4.0; minor or patch changes in infrastructure components may require testing in a non-production environment first
