Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
9Router is an AI router & token saver. Prior to 0.5.4, the PATCH /api/settings endpoint writes the entire request body to persistent settings without a field whitelist, allowing an authenticated user to set security-critical fields such as requireLogin and disable authentication for the whole application, exposing protected routes such as /api/keys and /api/providers to unauthenticated access. This issue is reported as fixed in version 0.5.4.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

The PATCH /api/settings endpoint in 9Router versions prior to 0.5.4 writes the entire request body to persistent settings without field whitelist validation, allowing authenticated users to modify security-critical fields like requireLogin and disable authentication, thereby exposing protected endpoints such as /api/keys and /api/providers to unauthenticated access.

MitigationUpgrade to version 0.5.4 or implement server-side field whitelist validation for the settings endpoint to restrict which configuration options can be modified, explicitly blocking security-critical fields from user-controlled input.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify installed 9Router version
Check the application's version string (typically via /api/version endpoint, CLI version flag, or package manager listing)
Affected if Version is present and less than 0.5.4 (e.g., 0.5.3, 0.5.2, 0.5.0, etc.)
  2. Verify PATCH /api/settings endpoint exists
Send a OPTIONS or HEAD request to PATCH /api/settings or inspect API documentation/routes configuration
Affected if The endpoint responds to PATCH method and accepts JSON body for settings modification
  3. Inspect current security settings configuration
Query the GET /api/settings endpoint or check the persistent settings storage (database/config file) for fields: requireLogin and disableAuthentication
Affected if These fields exist in the settings schema and can potentially be modified via PATCH
  4. Confirm authentication layer configuration
Review server configuration or authentication middleware logs to verify that /api/keys and /api/providers endpoints rely on requireLogin or disableAuthentication flags
Affected if These protected endpoints depend on the settable security flags that can be altered via the vulnerable PATCH endpoint

You are affected if running 9Router version prior to 0.5.4 AND the PATCH /api/settings endpoint permits modification of security-critical fields like requireLogin or disableAuthentication without server-side validation.
