Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
The Grav API plugin (getgrav/grav-plugin-api) before 1.0.0-rc.16 accepts JWT access tokens through the ?token= URL query parameter on every API route (JwtAuthenticator::extractBearerToken fallback). Because tokens are embedded in URLs, they are logged verbatim in web server access logs, leaked via the Referer header, stored in browser history, and captured by upstream proxy and CDN logs, exposing valid admin access tokens. A leaked token grants unauthorized API access, including reading configuration and user data, creating admin accounts, modifying system settings, and deleting pages.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · low confidence
Developing — this CVE was published recently and its authoritative NVD entry is still being established, so we're holding a technical summary until the source data settles rather than publish something unreliable. Re-checking after 2026-07-31.

1.0.0-rc.16

  1. Identify the Grav site installation and locate the getgrav/grav-plugin-api plugin
  2. Check the current installed version of the API plugin (typically in plugins/api/VERSION or composer.json)
  3. Backup the site and database before performing the upgrade
  4. Update the grav-plugin-api to version 1.0.0-rc.16 or later using the Grav package manager: bin/gpm install api or bin/gpm update api, or via composer: composer update getgrav/grav-plugin-api
  5. Alternatively, manually download the new version from github.com/getgrav/grav-plugin-api and replace the plugins/api/ directory
  6. Verify the new version is installed by checking the plugin version in the Grav admin panel or via bin/gpm info api
  7. Test that the API now properly handles JWT authentication without using URL query parameters
