Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models. Prior to 0.26.0, the MiMoV2OmniMultiModalProcessor in vllm/transformers_utils/processors/mimo_v2_omni.py passes attacker-controlled image and audio strings through _fetch_image, requests.get, and Image.open instead of MediaConnector, bypassing allowed_media_domains and allowed_local_media_path protections and allowing server-side requests and reads of arbitrary files accessible to the vLLM process. This issue is fixed in version 0.26.0.

How this class of weakness works · CWE-918

The server can be induced to make requests to a URL an attacker controls, turning it into a proxy into internal networks and cloud metadata services. It's especially dangerous behind a trusted network boundary. The fix is strict allow-listing of destinations and blocking access to internal address ranges.

Recommended fix High confidence

0.26.0

  1. 1. Identify the current vLLM installation method (pip, Docker, source, etc.)
  2. 2. Check the currently installed version using: pip show vllm or docker images | grep vllm
  3. 3. For pip installation: Run 'pip install --upgrade vllm>=0.26.0' to upgrade to the fixed version
  4. 4. For Docker: Pull the fixed image: docker pull vllm/vllm:latest or docker pull vllm/vllm:v0.26.0
  5. 5. Verify the upgrade was successful by checking the version again
  6. 6. Restart any running vLLM services to load the fixed version
  7. 7. Test that the MiMoV2OmniMultiModalProcessor now properly uses MediaConnector for media validation
