Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Small Business RV016, RV042, RV042G, RV082, RV320, and RV325 Routers could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause an affected device to restart unexpectedly. These vulnerabilities are due to improper validation of user-supplied input in the web-based management interface. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending crafted HTTP requests to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code as the root user on the underlying operating system or cause the device to reload, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. To exploit these vulnerabilities, an attacker would need to have valid administrator credentials on the affected device.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Multiple input validation vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Small Business RV series routers allow authenticated administrators to inject arbitrary commands via crafted HTTP requests, leading to root-level code execution or device DoS through reload.

MitigationApply Cisco-provided patches immediately. Until patched, restrict management interface access to trusted networks using ACLs, enforce strong administrator credentials, and monitor for anomalous HTTP requests.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify the router model
Locate the Cisco Small Business RV series router in your network inventory or physically inspect the device label. Common model numbers include RV016, RV042, RV042G, RV082, RV320, and RV325.
Affected if The device is one of the listed affected models (RV016, RV042, RV042G, RV082, RV320, or RV325).
  2. Determine the installed firmware version
Access the router web-based management interface and navigate to the System Summary or Status page to view the firmware version. Alternatively, use the router CLI and run the 'show version' command.
Affected if The firmware version is at or below 4.2.3.14 for RV016/RV042/RV042G/RV082 models, or at or below 1.5.1.11 for RV320/RV325 models.
  3. Verify if the web-based management interface is enabled
Log into the router web interface and check the Administration or Management settings to confirm whether the HTTP/HTTPS management interface is currently enabled.
Affected if The web-based management interface is enabled. This is the attack vector required for exploitation.
  4. Check management interface network exposure
Review the router's access control settings or firewall rules to determine if the management interface is reachable from untrusted networks (such as the internet or guest networks).
Affected if The management interface is accessible from untrusted networks rather than being restricted to a trusted management VLAN or specific admin IP range.
  5. Review administrator account security
Examine the list of administrator accounts configured on the router to assess password strength and account management practices.
Affected if Weak or default administrator credentials are in use, making it easier for an attacker to gain the authenticated access required to exploit this vulnerability.

You are affected if you run any of the listed RV series router models with firmware at or below the specified version limits AND have the web-based management interface enabled and accessible.
