Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: Don't double unplug aux on peer initiated reset In the IDC callback that is accessed when the aux drivers request a reset, the function to unplug the aux devices is called. This function is also called in the ice_prepare_for_reset function. This double call is causing a "scheduling while atomic" BUG. Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Recommended fix High confidence

Upgrade to Linux kernel 5.15.71 or later for 5.15.x branch; 5.19.12 or later for 5.16-5.19.x branches; 6.1 or later for 6.0 branch

  1. Identify the current running kernel version using `uname -r`
  2. Check if the version falls within affected ranges: 5.14.x, 5.15.x < 5.15.71, 5.16.x through 5.19.x < 5.19.12, or 6.0.x
  3. For RHEL/CentOS systems: update kernel via `yum update kernel` or `dnf update kernel`
  4. For Debian/Ubuntu systems: update via `apt-get update && apt-get upgrade linux-image-generic`
  5. For other distributions: upgrade to kernel 5.15.71+, 5.19.12+, or 6.1+ as appropriate
  6. Reboot the system to load the fixed kernel
  7. Verify the fix by running `uname -r` to confirm the new version is active
Caveat Kernel upgrades may require matching driver updates; ensure compatible firmware and kernel modules are available before rebooting
