Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: fix double list_add at iwl_mvm_mac_wake_tx_queue After successfull station association, if station queues are disabled for some reason, the related lists are not emptied. So if some new element is added to the list in iwl_mvm_mac_wake_tx_queue, it can match with the old one and produce a BUG like this: [ 46.535263] list_add corruption. prev->next should be next (ffff94c1c318a360), but was 0000000000000000. Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

How this class of weakness works · CWE-415

The same block of memory is freed twice, corrupting the allocator's bookkeeping in ways an attacker can shape toward code execution. It usually stems from tangled ownership of a pointer. The fix is clear, single ownership of each allocation and clearing pointers once they are freed.

General guidance for the double free class — the official description and references above are authoritative for this specific CVE. Want a bespoke review and a reviewed fix? Ask our team →

Upgrade to kernel version 5.4.211+, 5.10.137+, 5.15.61+, or 5.18.18+ depending on the branch currently in use

  1. 1. Check the current kernel version using: uname -r
  2. 2. Based on the current kernel version, determine the appropriate upgrade target: for 5.1-5.4.x upgrade to 5.4.211 or later; for 5.5-5.10.x upgrade to 5.10.137 or later; for 5.11-5.15.x upgrade to 5.15.61 or later; for 5.16-5.18.x upgrade to 5.18.18 or later
  3. 3. For Debian/Ubuntu: apt-get update && apt-get install linux-image-<version> (or use apt-get dist-upgrade)
  4. 4. For RHEL/CentOS: yum update kernel
  5. 5. For Fedora: dnf update kernel
  6. 6. After installation, reboot the system to load the new kernel: reboot
  7. 7. Verify the fix is applied by running: uname -r (should show the patched version)
Caveat Kernel upgrades may require rebooting services and could have compatibility issues with proprietary kernel modules or drivers
