Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19805)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability when parsing SPP files. A specially crafted SPP file causes the application to write past the end of an allocated buffer, potentially allowing arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpgrade to Tecnomatix Plant Simulation version V2201.0006 or later. Until patched, avoid opening SPP files from untrusted sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Affected products & versions What the vendor confirmedThe version ranges the vendor confirmed as vulnerable. If your version sits inside a range here, treat yourself as exposed until you have upgraded.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Confirm Tecnomatix Plant Simulation installation
Check for the presence of the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software in the system (e.g., Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation or via system inventory/Add-Remove Programs)
Affected if The software is not installed on the system
  2. Locate the installed version
Find the version information - typically in the software's About dialog, or check version metadata in the installation directory or Windows registry under the software's uninstall entry
Affected if Unable to determine the installed version
  3. Compare version against vulnerable range
Compare your installed version number to the affected range: versions prior to 2201.0006 are vulnerable (e.g., V2201.0005, V2201.0004, V16, V15, etc.)
Affected if The installed version is less than 2201.0006
  4. Assess SPP file exposure
Determine if the system processes SPP files - check if SPP is a native file format of Plant Simulation and if users can import/parse these files
Affected if SPP file parsing is a supported feature and untrusted SPP files could be opened

A user is affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed with a version number lower than 2201.0006 and the SPP file parsing feature is available.
