Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19808)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in its SPP file parser. By supplying a specially crafted SPP file, an attacker can overwrite memory beyond an allocated buffer, achieving arbitrary code execution within the context of the current process.

MitigationUpgrade to Tecnomatix Plant Simulation V2201.0006 or later. Until then, avoid opening SPP files from untrusted sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Affected products & versions What the vendor confirmedThe version ranges the vendor confirmed as vulnerable. If your version sits inside a range here, treat yourself as exposed until you have upgraded.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Check if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed
Look for the software in the Windows Program Files directory, typically under C:\Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation or check Add/Remove Programs
Affected if The software is present on the system
  2. Identify the installed version of Plant Simulation
Check the program's version information: right-click the executable (PlantSimulation.exe) in the installation folder, select Properties, and view the Details tab, or run 'wmic product where "name like '%Tecnomatix%'" get version'
Affected if Unable to determine the version number
  3. Compare your installed version to the affected range
Compare the version found in step 2 against 2201.0006. Versions below 2201.0006 (e.g., V2201.0005, V16, V15, etc.) are affected
Affected if Installed version is less than 2201.0006
  4. Determine if SPP file handling is used
Check whether users or automated processes open SPP files within the Plant Simulation environment, as this is the attack vector for the vulnerability
Affected if SPP files are opened in the affected software version

The environment is affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed with a version lower than 2201.0006 and SPP files are processed.
