Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19809)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in its SPP file parser. When parsing a specially crafted SPP file, the application writes past the end of an allocated buffer, which can be leveraged by an attacker for code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to version V2201.0006 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until patched, avoid opening untrusted SPP files.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Check if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed
Look for the application in the Windows Start Menu, or check the installation directory (commonly under C:\Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation or C:\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation)
Affected if The application is not present on the system
  2. Identify the installed version
Open the application and navigate to Help > About Tecnomatix Plant Simulation, or check the version in the installation folder (version info may be in a file like version.txt or in the executable properties)
Affected if Unable to determine the version number
  3. Compare against affected versions
Check if the installed version is less than 2201.0006. Note that versions before V2201.0006 (including older version branches) are all affected.
Affected if Installed version is < 2201.0006 (any version prior to this release)
  4. Assess SPP file exposure
Determine if the user or automated processes open SPP files with Tecnomatix Plant Simulation. SPP files are Plant Simulation data files. Check for recent .spp file access or default file associations.
Affected if The application is used to open SPP files, especially from untrusted sources

A user is affected if they have Tecnomatix Plant Simulation installed with a version lower than 2201.0006 and open SPP files with the application.
