Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19812)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains a buffer overflow vulnerability when parsing SPP files. The application writes beyond the bounds of an allocated memory buffer during file parsing, potentially allowing arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user process.

MitigationUpgrade Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to version V2201.0006 or later. Until then, avoid opening untrusted SPP files from unknown sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Affected products & versions What the vendor confirmedThe version ranges the vendor confirmed as vulnerable. If your version sits inside a range here, treat yourself as exposed until you have upgraded.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Verify Tecnomatix Plant Simulation installation
Check for the presence of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation in Program Files, or look for the application in the Windows Start Menu or installed programs list
Affected if The application is installed on the system
  2. Determine installed version
Open the application and navigate to Help > About, or check the version in the application launcher/properties. The version format is typically V2201.xxxx or similar.
Affected if The installed version is less than V2201.0006 (for example, V16, V17, V2001, V2020, etc.)
  3. Confirm SPP file handling capability
Verify the application can open or import SPP files - check for SPP file type association or File > Open dialog showing .spp extension support
Affected if The application can parse SPP files and this feature is accessible to the user
  4. Assess file parsing trigger vector
Determine if the current user workflow involves opening SPP files from external or untrusted sources, as this is the attack vector for the vulnerability
Affected if Users routinely open SPP files from sources outside the organization or from untrusted origins

You are affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed with a version lower than V2201.0006 AND users can open SPP files with the application.
