Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-19813)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability when parsing specially crafted SPP files. The application writes past the end of an allocated buffer during SPP file parsing, allowing an attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpgrade Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to version V2201.0006 or later to remediate this vulnerability; refrain from opening untrusted SPP files from unknown or unverified sources.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Confirm Tecnomatix Plant Simulation installation
Check for the presence of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation in the Windows Programs and Features list, or look for the installation directory typically under C:\Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation
Affected if The software is installed on the system
  2. Identify installed version
Open the Windows Registry under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Tecnomatix\PlantSimulation\ and look for the Version value, or right-click the PlantSimulation.exe executable in the installation folder and view Properties > Details
Affected if Version cannot be determined or is not visible
  3. Compare version against vulnerability range
If version is found, compare the full version number (including build/sub-version) to 2201.0006
Affected if Installed version is less than 2201.0006 (for example, 2201.0005, V2201, or any earlier release)
  4. Verify SPP file handling capability
Confirm the application can open .spp files by checking if the software includes SPP file import functionality or by locating .spp file type associations
Affected if The application has the capability to parse SPP files and the version is vulnerable

The environment is affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed with a version number lower than 2201.0006 and the application can parse SPP files.
