Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (All versions < V2201.0006). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (ZDI-CAN-20299, ZDI-CAN-20346)

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability when parsing specially crafted SPP files. The flaw occurs due to improper bounds checking during file parsing, allowing an attacker to write past the end of an allocated buffer and execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to version V2201.0006 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until the update is applied, avoid opening untrusted or unverified SPP files.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Confirm Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed
Check for the presence of the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation application in the Windows Programs and Features list, or search for the installation directory (typically under C:\Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation or similar Siemens directories)
Affected if The software is installed on the system
  2. Determine the installed version number
Open the Windows Control Panel, go to Programs and Features, locate Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation, and note the version column. Alternatively, right-click the Plant Simulation executable in the installation folder, select Properties, and check the Details tab for the Product Version
Affected if The version displayed is lower than 2201.0006
  3. Verify SPP file parsing functionality is present
Locate the Plant Simulation executable (e.g., PlantSim.exe) and confirm the application can open .spp files. Check if the file association for .spp files exists on the system by searching for .spp files or checking file type associations
Affected if The application can parse SPP files and the version is below 2201.0006
  4. Identify the product build date if version is ambiguous
If the version shows only a partial number (e.g., V15 or similar), right-click the PlantSim.exe file, select Properties, and check the Version tab for File Version or Product Version strings to determine the exact release build
Affected if The build date or version indicates a release prior to the V2201.0006 update

The system is affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is installed with any version number lower than 2201.0006, as this version range contains the out-of-bounds write vulnerability in SPP file parsing.
