Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

5.15.105 (or respective fixed version for your kernel branch: 4.19.280, 5.4.240, or 5.10.177)

  1. Identify the currently running kernel version using `uname -r`
  2. Determine which kernel branch your current version belongs to (e.g., 4.19.x, 5.4.x, 5.10.x, 5.15.x)
  3. Upgrade the Linux kernel to a patched version: for 4.19.x upgrade to >=4.19.280, for 5.4.x upgrade to >=5.4.240, for 5.10.x upgrade to >=5.10.177, for 5.15.x upgrade to >=5.15.105
  4. Apply the upgrade using your distribution's package manager (e.g., `apt-get dist-upgrade`, `yum update`, or `dnf upgrade`)
  5. Reboot the system to load the new kernel
  6. Verify the new kernel version is running using `uname -r` and confirm it contains the fix from commit 5d4172732f0ee1639a361a6cc5c3114bbb397386
Caveat Kernel upgrade requires system reboot and may require updating out-of-tree drivers or modules; test in staging environment before production deployment
