Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
A vulnerability has been identified in Tecnomatix Plant Simulation V2201 (All versions), Tecnomatix Plant Simulation V2302 (All versions < V2302.0007). The affected application contains an out of bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer while parsing a specially crafted SPP file. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

dbcve analysis · high confidence

Tecnomatix Plant Simulation contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability when parsing specially crafted SPP files. The application writes past the end of an allocated buffer during SPP file parsing, allowing an attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.

MitigationUpdate to V2302.0007 or later (or the latest patched version for V2201). Avoid opening untrusted SPP files from unknown or untrusted sources until the patch is applied.

Verify against the referenced sources before acting — the references below are authoritative for this CVE, this summary is not.

Am I affected? How to checkSteps we derive from the advisory and the affected-version data, so you can decide whether this CVE reaches your setup. They are a guide, not a scan — your own configuration is the authority.

dbcve checks

Work through these to decide whether this CVE applies to you.

  1. Identify Tecnomatix Plant Simulation installation
Locate the Plant Simulation installation directory, typically under C:\Program Files\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation or C:\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\Tecnomatix_Plant_Simulation. Look for the executable file (usually PlantSimulation.exe or similar) and check its version properties via right-click > Properties > Details, or use a version detection tool.
Affected if The software is installed on the system
  2. Determine the installed version number
Extract the full version number from the executable. In Windows, you can use PowerShell: Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Program Files\Siemens" -Recurse -Filter "*.exe" | Where-Object {$_.Name -like "*PlantSimulation*"} | ForEach-Object { $_.VersionInfo.FileVersion }. Also check the About dialog within the application if it is accessible.
Affected if Version cannot be determined or application is not installed - not applicable
  3. Compare installed version to affected ranges
Review the extracted version against the affected ranges: V2302.0 through V2302.0006 (any version >= 2302.0 but < 2302.0007) OR exactly V2201.0. Versions outside these ranges (including V2302.0007 and later, or versions other than 2201.0) are not affected by this specific CVE.
Affected if Installed version is >= 2302.0 AND < 2302.0007, OR installed version is exactly 2201.0
  4. Assess SPP file usage in the environment
Determine if the Plant Simulation installation is used to open, import, or process SPP (Simulation Process Optimization) files. Check for recent .spp files in shared directories, local project folders, or automated workflows that parse SPP content.
Affected if Users routinely open SPP files from untrusted sources or automated processes handle SPP files without validation

The environment is affected if Tecnomatix Plant Simulation V2302.0 through V2302.0006 or exactly V2201.0 is installed AND the system parses SPP files from potentially untrusted sources, as the vulnerability is triggered during SPP file parsing.

Fixed in 2302.0007
Interim mitigation

Update to V2302.0007 or later (or the latest patched version for V2201). Avoid opening untrusted SPP files from unknown or untrusted sources until the patch is applied.

Recommended fix High confidence

V2302.0007 (or later)

  1. 1. Identify the current installed version of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (help > about)
  2. 2. For V2302.x users: Navigate to the Siemens Industry Online Support portal (support.industry.siemens.com) and download Tecnomatix Plant Simulation V2302.0007 or later
  3. 3. For V2201.x users: There is no fixed version available for V2201; contact Siemens technical support for remediation options
  4. 4. Close all instances of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation before installing the update
  5. 5. Run the installer with administrator privileges and follow the on-screen installation wizard
  6. 6. After installation, verify the version by checking Help > About to confirm V2302.0007 or later is installed
  7. 7. Re-test any custom SPP files or workflows to ensure normal operation
Caveat Users on V2201 have no direct upgrade path to a fixed release and must contact Siemens for alternative remediation
