CVE-2024-35819
Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.
NVD · uneditedIn the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: fsl: qbman: Use raw spinlock for cgr_lock smp_call_function always runs its callback in hard IRQ context, even on PREEMPT_RT, where spinlocks can sleep. So we need to use a raw spinlock for cgr_lock to ensure we aren't waiting on a sleeping task. Although this bug has existed for a while, it was not apparent until commit ef2a8d5478b9 ("net: dpaa: Adjust queue depth on rate change") which invokes smp_call_function_single via qman_update_cgr_safe every time a link goes up or down.
Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Remediation Closing itWhat it takes to close this. Where a vendor fix exists we point at it; where none exists we say so plainly, and can build one. Effort estimates are scoped from the advisory, not from your codebase.

Linux Kernel >= 4.19.312 (or backport branch with fix)
- Upgrade Linux kernel to version >= 4.19.312 which includes the fix for the cgr_lock raw spinlock conversion
- Alternatively, if building from source, apply the commit 2b3fede8225133671ce837c0d284804aa3bc7a02 which changes cgr_lock from spinlock_t to raw_spinlock_t in the qbman driver code
- After kernel upgrade or patch application, reboot the system to load the fixed kernel

The advisory tells you what broke. It rarely tells you what actually worked. If you’ve dealt with this one, that detail is what the next engineer is searching for.
- The version that genuinely resolved it — not the one the vendor claimed
- A config change or rule that shut the vector down
- A gotcha in the upgrade path that cost you an afternoon
