One possible way to fix the warning is to split the memcpy() into two parts -- one -- direct assignment of msg and second taking care of payload. Gustavo quoted: "Under FORTIFY_SOURCE we should not copy data across multiple members in a structure."

Apply the upstream commit 130b0cd064874e0d0f58e18fb00e6f3993e90c74 which splits the memcpy() in dg_dispatch_as_host() into two separate copy operations: first copy the 24-byte struct vmci_datagram header into dg_info->msg, then copy the payload into dg_info->msg_payload[]. This resolves the FORTIFY_SOURCE field-spanning write warning.
  2. If applying the patch is not feasible, consider upgrading the kernel to a version that includes this fix.
