Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ar5523: enable proper endpoint verification Syzkaller reports [1] hitting a warning about an endpoint in use not having an expected type to it. Fix the issue by checking for the existence of all proper endpoints with their according types intact. Sadly, this patch has not been tested on real hardware. Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Recommended fix High confidence

Kernel >=4.19.316 (4.19.x), >=5.4.278 (5.4.x), >=5.10.219 (5.10.x), >=5.15.161 (5.15.x), or >=5.16/6.x

  1. Identify the current kernel version using `uname -r` or `cat /proc/version`
  2. Determine which affected version range your kernel falls into based on the version comparison
  3. Upgrade to a patched kernel version: for 4.19.x line upgrade to >=4.19.316, for 5.4.x line upgrade to >=5.4.278, for 5.10.x line upgrade to >=5.10.219, for 5.15.x line upgrade to >=5.15.161
  4. Alternatively, upgrade to any kernel version >=5.16 or >=6.1 which contains this fix
  5. After reboot, verify the fix is applied by checking the ar5523 driver code contains proper endpoint type checking in drivers/net/wireless/ath/ar5523/ar5523.c
