Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

However, trace_9p_client_res() ends up trying to print it out anyway before p9_client_rpc() finishes. Fix this issue by assigning default values to p9_fcall fields such as 'tag' and (just in case KMSAN unearths something new) 'id' during the tag allocation stage.

Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Upgrade to kernel 4.19.316+, 5.4.278+, 5.10.219+, or 5.15.161+ (depending on which branch you are on)

  1. Identify current kernel version: run `uname -r` to check the running kernel version
  2. Determine which branch your current kernel belongs to (e.g., 4.19.x, 5.4.x, 5.10.x, or 5.15.x)
  3. Upgrade the Linux kernel to a fixed version: 4.19.316 or later (if on 4.19 branch), 5.4.278 or later (if on 5.4 branch), 5.10.219 or later (if on 5.10 branch), or 5.15.161 or later (if on 5.15 branch)
  4. Use your distribution's package manager to install the updated kernel package (e.g., `apt-get update && apt-get install linux-image-<version>` for Debian/Ubuntu, or `yum update kernel` for RHEL/CentOS)
  5. Reboot the system to load the new kernel: `reboot`
  6. Verify the fix is applied by running `uname -r` and confirming the version is at or above the fixed version for your branch
Caveat Kernel upgrades may require rebooting and could introduce compatibility issues with third-party kernel modules; ensure dependent modules are rebuilt for the new kernel version
