Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: atm: cxacru: fix endpoint checking in cxacru_bind() Syzbot is still reporting quite an old issue [1] that occurs due to incomplete checking of present usb endpoints. As such, wrong endpoints types may be used at urb sumbitting stage which in turn triggers a warning in usb_submit_urb(). Fix the issue by verifying that required endpoint types are present for both in and out endpoints, taking into account cmd endpoint type. Unfortunately, this patch has not been tested on real hardware. Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Recommended fix High confidence

Upgrade to Linux kernel >= 4.19.317 (for 4.19.x), >= 5.4.279 (for 5.4.x), >= 5.10.221 (for 5.10.x), >= 5.15.162 (for 5.15.x), or latest stable 6.x release

  1. Identify the current Linux kernel version using 'uname -r' or 'cat /proc/version'
  2. Determine which branch of the kernel is in use (e.g., 4.19.x, 5.4.x, 5.10.x, 5.15.x, or newer)
  3. Upgrade the kernel to a version that includes the fix: for 4.19.x upgrade to >= 4.19.317, for 5.4.x upgrade to >= 5.4.279, for 5.10.x upgrade to >= 5.10.221, for 5.15.x upgrade to >= 5.15.162, or upgrade to a newer stable release such as 6.x
  4. Reboot the system to load the new kernel
  5. Verify the fix is applied by checking the kernel version and confirming the cxacru driver works without the 'BOGUS urb xfer' warning
Caveat Kernel upgrades may require rebuilding third-party kernel modules and could introduce minor API changes affecting custom drivers
