Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btnxpuart: Fix random crash seen while removing driver This fixes the random kernel crash seen while removing the driver, when running the load/unload test over multiple iterations. 1) modprobe btnxpuart 2) hciconfig hci0 reset 3) hciconfig (check hci0 interface up with valid BD address) 4) modprobe -r btnxpuart Repeat steps 1 to 4 The ps_wakeup() call in btnxpuart_close() schedules the psdata->work(), which gets scheduled after module is removed, causing a kernel crash. This hidden issue got highlighted after enabling Power Save by default in 4183a7be7700 (Bluetooth: btnxpuart: Enable Power Save feature on startup) The new ps_cleanup() deasserts UART break immediately while closing serdev device, cancels any scheduled ps_work and destroys the ps_lock mutex. Recommended fix High confidence

Kernel 6.6.49+ (6.6.y branch), 6.10.8+ (6.10.y branch), or 6.12+ (mainline)

  1. Identify the currently running kernel version using 'uname -r'
  2. Determine which Linux distribution kernel package is in use (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Fedora)
  3. For Ubuntu/Debian: Run 'sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade' or install a newer kernel metapackage
  4. For Red Hat/Fedora: Run 'sudo dnf update kernel'
  5. For custom/vanilla kernels: Download and install kernel 6.6.49+, 6.10.8+, or 6.12+ from kernel.org
  6. Reboot the system into the updated kernel using 'sudo reboot'
  7. Verify the fix is applied by checking the kernel version with 'uname -r' and confirming the btnxpuart driver loads without crashing
Caveat Kernel upgrades may require rebuilding out-of-tree modules; ensure any proprietary kernel modules are compatible with the new version before upgrading
