Official description Straight from the sourceThe vendor's or NVD's own wording, published unedited. Authoritative, but often terse — it says what broke, rarely what to do.

NVD · unedited
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: bcm: Clear bo->bcm_proc_read after remove_proc_entry(). syzbot reported a warning in bcm_release(). [0] The blamed change fixed another warning that is triggered when connect() is issued again for a socket whose connect()ed device has been unregistered. However, if the socket is just close()d without the 2nd connect(), the remaining bo->bcm_proc_read triggers unnecessary remove_proc_entry() in bcm_release(). Let's clear bo->bcm_proc_read after remove_proc_entry() in bcm_notify(). Technical summary Written by usOur analysis, written from the advisory, the CVSS vector and the affected-version data. It adds context the advisory leaves out, and never invents facts that are not in the source.

Linux Kernel 5.5+ (for 5.4.x), 6.1.113+ (for 6.1.x), 6.6.54+ (for 6.6.x), or 6.10.13+ (for 6.10.x)

  1. Identify the currently running kernel version using `uname -r`
  2. Determine which stable kernel version series you are using (5.4.x, 6.1.x, 6.6.x, or 6.10.x)
  3. For 5.4.x users: Upgrade to kernel version 5.5 or later
  4. For 6.1.x users: Upgrade to kernel version 6.1.113 or later
  5. For 6.6.x users: Upgrade to kernel version 6.6.54 or later
  6. For 6.10.x users: Upgrade to kernel version 6.10.13 or later
  7. Reboot the system to load the new kernel
Caveat Standard kernel upgrade risks apply - ensure compatibility with existing system software and drivers before upgrading
